Kathmandu: At least two people were killed and five others injured today in a bomb attack here in the Nepalese capital where a number of government offices, including that of Prime Minister, are located.

Two people were killed on the spot and five others sustained injuries when the bomb exploded on a road between the office of Nepal Oil Corporation and Kathmandu District Court at Singhdubar. The site of the explosion is less than 100-metre away from the main government administrative building that houses Prime Minister`s Office and the Parliament Secretariat.

The five people who sustained injuries in the incident were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Two of them were in critical condition, according to sources at the Home Ministry and Army Headquarters.

The incident comes two days after the Nepal Oil Corporation slightly increased the price of petroleum products, second time in two months. Security has been beefed up in the area after the incident.

The cause of the blast was not immediately known. Police have cordoned the area and are investigating the matter. A manhunt has been launched to find out the culprits.
