At a time when the Odisha government is bracing itself up to ensure zero casualties in the impending cyclone Dana, as many as 15 families are learnt to have been stranded on an island in the Balasore district.
As per reports, the above-mentioned families have been living in Subarnapur Island for three to four years now. The island is two kilometres from Talasari under the Bhogarai block in the Balasore district. The families eke out their livelihood by fishing.

All the families are living in thatched houses covered with polythene sheets. As Balasore is one of the districts that will bear the brunt of the cyclone, if the fishing folks living on the island are not rescued well in advance, the situation can well be imagined.
Though the local administration is aware of this fact, it is yet to take any steps to rescue the families.
When contacted, Bhogarai BDO said they would be rescued on Wednesday.
