Kotpad Weave Creations Shine At Barbil Art Project in Keonjhar

The sixth edition of the Barbil Art Project was held from December 2nd to 8th, 2023, at Arya Colony in Barbil of Keonjhar district.

The theme for this edition was ‘Kata Sarei: Weaving Human Tapestry with Art.’ This term refers to the art of weaving Kotpad textiles, providing a guiding concept for artists and artisans in their projects.

The project brought together contemporary artists and traditional artisans, collaborating with the local community.

The goal was to enhance understanding of Odishan traditional art among contemporary artists and raise awareness among participating artisans about incorporating new concepts into their practices.

A key objective was to create opportunities for the community, particularly residents of Bolani, Barbil, to witness, participate, and engage with the artists.

The artworks produced during the project addressed various themes, including ecological and environmental issues, gender, and modern habitation.

The Barbil Art Project plays a vital role in redefining the collective memory, contributing to the continuity of human experience, and enriching the human tapestry.

By fostering collaboration, cultural exchange, and addressing contemporary issues, the Barbil Art Project leaves a lasting impact on the artistic landscape, creating a meaningful legacy for future endeavors.
