Ratan Tata was born on December 28, 1937, in Bombay and studied architecture at Cornell University and management at Harvard.
He joined Tata Group in 1961, starting at Tata Steel. In 1991, he became Chairman, expanding the company globally and diversifying its industries.
He acquired companies like Tetley, Corus, and Jaguar Land Rover, putting Indian businesses on the global map.
In 1996, he entered the telecom sector with Tata Teleservices.
Tata Motors launched India’s first indigenous passenger car, the Tata Indica, in 1998, and in 2008, he introduced the Tata Nano for the masses.
In 2012, Tata Global Beverages partnered with Starbucks.
Ratan Tata has received many awards, including the Padma Bhushan in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
