Historic Horrors: Know 9 Deadliest Leaders Who Shaped History Through Their Atrocities

The world has seen many great leaders as well as evil leaders, making waves in the world positively and negatively.

A user named ‘Time Capsule Tales’ shared the stories of the most evil leaders in the world on platform X, who terrorised people during their reign.

Pol Pot: The former revolutionary Prime Minister of Cambodia (1976-1979), known for his brutal ruling that killed 2 million of his own people by execution, forced labour, horrific medical experiments, starvation, and more.

Leopold II: The king of Belgium from 1865-1909, Leopold founded and ruled the Congo Free State. He forced the native population to harvest rubber but when his high quotas were not met the people were beaten, killed, and mutilated. He was responsible for the death of 10 million people.

Kim Jong Il: Former Supreme Leader of North Korea Kim Jong Il, is considered the most repressive leader on the entire planet with no freedom of religion, press, or political opposition, even the daily life of the citizens was controlled by the govt during his time. Besides his wrongful imprisonment, disastrous policies, and oppressive rules, his mismanagement during the famine led to the death of millions of North Koreans.

Idi Amin: Known as the ‘Butcher of Uganda’, he was a dictator of Uganda during the 1970s. He is famous for killing people by feeding them to crocodiles. He claimed to be a cannibal and mutilated one of his wives. Human rights abuse, political repression, nepotism, corruption, etc., were common during his reign.

Saddam Hussein: He was the President of Iraq from 1979-2003 and was famous for attacking his own people with chemical weapons and ordering eye gouging, severe shocks, and beatings. He also recorded the tortures to watch them later. He was hanged in 2006 upon being guilty of crimes against humanity.

Mao Zedong: The founder of the People’s Republic of China who led deaths of 40 to 80 million people for his policy during the Great Chinese Famine, most of which deaths occurred due to torture, beatings, mass execution, and prison labour.

Genghis Khan: The legendary ruler of the Mongol empire from 1206-1227 known for his ruthless military conquests. He was responsible for the death of around 60 million people by pouring molten silver or metal into their ears and eyes. The poor, rich, enemies, and betrayers, all were killed during his reign.

Joseph Stalin: He was the leader of the Soviet Union from 1922-1952. He put millions of people, including political prisoners and undesirables into prison and labour camps, where they were tortured and destroyed, resulting in the death of over 15 million people.

Adolf Hitler: The deadliest of world leaders, he was the Dictator of Nazi Germany from 1933-1945 and was responsible for the deaths of millions, including Jews, prisoners of war, soldiers, and civilians, during WWI and WWII.
