8 Energising Winter Morning Exercises to Warm Up Your Body

Now that winter is in full swing, the morning chill can leave your body feeling cold. To counter this, it is essential to engage in some exercises to warm up.

Here are eight exercises designed to invigorate your body on winter mornings.

Jumping Jacks

Start with your feet together and arms at your sides. Perform a jump, spreading your legs and raising your arms overhead. Return to the starting position and repeat.

March in Place

Lift your knees while standing in place, mimicking a marching motion. Swing your arms to add energy to the exercise. Marching in place increases your heart rate and warms up your entire body.

High Knees

Stand in place and lift your knees towards your chest alternately. For an extra challenge, add arm movements to increase intensity.

Leg Swings

Hold onto a support and swing one leg forward and backward. Repeat the motion with the other leg.

Bodyweight Squats

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees, lowering your body as if sitting back into a chair.

Dynamic Lunges

Take a step forward with one foot, lowering your hips. Alternate legs with each lunge. Dynamic lunges work on leg strength and increase flexibility.

Torso Twists

Stand with your feet hip-width apart and twist your upper body side to side. Torso twists engage your core muscles and contribute to improved flexibility.

Toe Touches

Stand with your feet hip-width apart and bend at the waist, reaching for your toes while keeping your legs straight. Toe touches stretch your hamstrings and warm up your lower body.
