Donald Trump began his 2nd term at the Oval Office, becoming the first US President to serve non-consecutive terms since Grover Cleveland.
Within minutes of taking oath, Trump signed a flurry of executive orders repealing laws and making sweeping changes to the administration:
WHO exit: Withdraw the U.S. from WHO, citing financial concerns and criticizing its COVID-19 response and political influence.
No work-from-home: Federal workers return to full-time in-person work disregarding WFH allowances rolled out during COVID times.
Paris Climate Accord: The US withdrew from the Paris Climate Agreement for a second time, ending climate commitments and fossil fuel regulations.
Birthright citizenship: Babies born in the United States to parents without having legal citizenship rights will not be considered citizens.
Two genders: Moving forward the US government will only recognise "two genders, male and female” while repealing DEI rules.
Weaponisation of government: A newly signed executive order that addresses alleged abuses of federal power under the previous administration.
Emergency at border: Severe new restrictions on immigration and asylum in the US, including sending the National Guard to the borders.
Presidential Pardon: 1,500 Trump supporters, part of the January 6, 2021, US Capitol riots were pardoned effective immediately.
