Pumpkin flower fritters, known as Kakharu Phula Bhaja, are a crunchy and flavourful treat.
The pumpkin flowers are dipped in a rice batter or gram flour and fried until golden brown. These fritters make for a perfect snack with a cup of tea during a rainy evening. Here is an easy recipe to try at home.
Ingredients: Soaked rice, Cumin, Red chilli, Garlic, Salt, Pumpkin flowers (cleaned), Oil
Grind the soaked rice, cumin, red chilli, and garlic into a smooth batter using some water.
Wash the flowers and pat them dry with a towel.
Once the rice batter is made, dip the pumpkin flowers into the batter and shallow-fry them in a frying pan using oil.
Dip one flower at a time in the batter on both sides.
You can also make these fritters with gram flour batter and fry them like pakoras.
To make the gram flour batter, take some besan (gram flour) in a bowl and add red chilli, turmeric, coriander, and cumin powder along with some ginger-garlic paste.
Add salt to taste and water to the besan and spices to make a smooth batter.
Enjoy your Kakharu Phula Bhaja with a hot cup of tea!
