5 Odia Fish Dishes You Should Try This Chadakhai

With the end of the holy Kartika month and the panchuka, Odias celebrate the next day as Chadakhai. But this year, people will mostly celebrate on November 17.

On Chadakhai, Odias celebrate by eating non-vegetarian food from which they had abstained for the holy month.

While Mutton and chicken are relished on Chadakhai, it is believed that eating fish is auspicious for breaking your Karitka fast.

Below, we have listed five Odia fish dishes you should try this Chadakhai:

Machha Besara: This Odia fish dish is made with fresh fish, mustard paste, & a blend of spices like garlic, cumin, & turmeric with dried mango to give a tangy & rich flavour.

Machha Patra Poda: It is a traditional roasted fish dish where marinated fish with mustard paste, garlic, & green chillies is wrapped in banana leaves & cooked over a fire or griddle.
