Budget 2025: What Gets Cheaper, What Gets Expensive; Check Full List

The Union Government revised its customs and tariff during the 2025 Budget and here is a full list of what got cheaper and what will now cost you more:

Cancer Drugs (Cheaper): As many as 36 drugs for cancer and rare diseases will also be exempted from Basic Customs Duty.

Smartphones (Cheaper): Mobile Phones: 28 additional goods for mobile phone battery production to come in the list of exempted capital goods.

EV Batteries (Cheaper): Proposal to fully exempt cobalt products, LED, zinc, lithium-ion battery scrap and 12 critical minerals from Basic Customs Duty.

Platinum (Cheaper): Basic Customs Duty on Platinum findings have also been reduced from 25 per cent to 6.4 per cent.

Flat Screen TVs (Expensive): The government proposed to increase Basic Customs Duty on interactive flat panel displays to 20 per cent from 10 per cent.

Frozen Fish Paste (Cheaper): Basic Customs Duty to be reduced to 5 per cent from 30 per cent on fish pasteurii.

Handicraft Exports (Cheaper): Proposal to develop and launch schemes to further promote handicraft exports.

Leather Products (Cheaper): Export duty on crust leather (hides and skins) reduced from 20 per cent to zero per cent.

Knitted Fabric (Expensive): Duty on knitted fabrics covered under specified tariff items will increase from 10 to 20 percent.

Motorcycles (Cheaper): An engine capacity not exceeding 1600 CC will have now a Basic Customs Duty of 40 per cent instead of the current 50 per cent.
