Witness Chariot Construction for Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri

Preparations for the 2025 Rath Yatra, scheduled for June 27 in Puri, Odisha, are progressing rapidly. Chariot construction is underway at Rathakhala.

Construction of the three sacred chariots—Nandighosha (Jagannath), Taladhwaja (Balabhadra), and Darpadalan (Subhadra)—commenced on April 30, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.

Over 200 skilled artisans are engaged in crafting the chariots, adhering to traditional methods passed down through generations.

Significant progress has been made, with the completion of 36 wheels under the supervision of the chief chariot builder.

Work is ongoing on various components, including the 'Nahka Chaupata' and 'Bhui Chowta,' essential parts of the chariot structure.

The construction process involves meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that each part aligns with the sacred specifications.

The forest department has dispatched specially selected timber, including Dharua logs, to support the construction efforts.

The chariots are built anew each year, symbolising the deities' annual journey and the renewal of devotion among the faithful.

The Rath Yatra attracts millions of devotees worldwide, who gather to witness the grand procession and seek blessings in the holy town.

With the festival approaching, the construction team is working diligently to ensure that the chariots are ready for the revered event.
