Though there are thousands of heroes, here are some of the heroes of the Kargil War:
Captain Vikram Batra: Known for his courage in capturing Point 4875, he was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra. His fearless leadership inspired his troops.
Lieutenant Colonel Yogesh Kumar Joshi: Led a battalion in recapturing high-altitude posts and was awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his exceptional valour.
Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan: Displayed extraordinary bravery in Operation Vijay and was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra for his supreme sacrifice.
Lieutenant Balwan Singh: Showed incredible courage in close combat and was awarded the Vir Chakra for his outstanding valour and sacrifice.
Major Rajesh Adhikari: Fought valiantly under challenging conditions and was honoured with the Vir Chakra for his bravery and sacrifice.
Captain Anuj Nayyar: Played a crucial role in Operation Vijay and lost his life in action. He was awarded the Vir Chakra posthumously for his courage and leadership.
Naib Subedar Yashpal Singh: His bravery and leadership were crucial in retaking strategic positions. He was awarded the Vir Chakra for his efforts.
Lieutenant Colonel B. Santosh Kumar: Displayed exceptional leadership in difficult conditions and was awarded the Vir Chakra for his courage and sacrifice.
The Kargil War took place due to Pakistan's intrusion into Indian territory in Kargil, disrupting the Line of Control (LoC). India emerged victorious, successfully pushing back Pakistani forces and restoring in the region.
