Mayur Hazarika studied medicine (MBBS) and later became an IFS officer. In the UPSC exam 2022, he ranked 5th among male candidates on his first try.

In interviews, he mentioned his dream of becoming an IFS officer and contributing to international relations in India.

Mayur's interest in civil services began during his third year of medical school. He graduated from Guwahati Medical College in 2020 and now lives in Tezpur, Assam.

Despite not expecting such a high rank, Mayur remained hopeful about making it to the final list.

He attended Don Bosco High School and Ramanujan Junior College in Tezpur. He lives with his parents and sister; his father is an engineer, and his mother is a homemaker.

Regarding his preparation, Mayur revealed that he always focused on quality sources for prelims and revised multiple times.
