The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted widespread rainfall across Odisha during the Dussehra celebrations, with a low-pressure area expected to form over the Bay of Bengal on Wednesday.
A cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over the Andaman Sea on Tuesday. Under its influence, a low-pressure system is expected to form over the north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal by tomorrow. Under its influence, moderate to heavy rain is expected across northern, coastal, and southern Odisha, while interior southern districts may experience very heavy rainfall.
The Met office has issued a yellow warning for seven districts, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati, and Ganjam for today, cautioning residents of heavy rain in isolated places. Some pockets of coastal and western Odisha are also likely to receive intense showers.
On October 1, several districts in north Odisha are expected to face heavy rainfall, with rain activity covering most parts of the state. The weather department has also warned of significant downpour in coastal, northern, and southern Odisha during Navami and Dashami. Furthermore, on October 3, western Odisha districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall.
Authorities have urged people to remain cautious, particularly in low-lying and landslide-prone areas, as rainfall may disrupt festive gatherings and local travel during the Dussehra celebrations.
