Odisha is expected to experience thunderstorms and rain in several parts over the next two days as a cyclonic circulation remains active over the south coastal region of Andhra Pradesh and its adjoining areas.
The Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a warning for rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in different parts of the state under the influence of this system.
According to the forecast, Koraput district is likely to witness heavy rainfall along with thunder and lightning on Sunday.
Heavy Rain Predicted in Several Districts
Similarly, districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh and a few others may also experience similar weather conditions. The weather office has urged residents in these regions to remain alert and avoid open areas during lightning activity.
Alert for North and Coastal Odisha
An alert has been issued for North and Coastal Odisha for Monday, indicating the possibility of intense rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in these regions. The meteorological department has advised people to take necessary precautions and farmers to plan their agricultural activities accordingly.
Monsoon Withdrawal Begins
Meanwhile, the process of withdrawal of the southwest monsoon has commenced from Odisha, signalling the gradual transition towards the post-monsoon period. The weather conditions are expected to fluctuate during this phase, with occasional spells of rain before the complete retreat of the monsoon system.
