Moderate rains in Odisha Photograph: (OTV (File))
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate rainfall in 11 districts of southern Odisha and issued a yellow warning for southern and coastal regions on Thursday. The weather activity is attributed to a well-marked low-pressure area that has formed over south Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu, which is likely to weaken and turn into a low-pressure system.
According to reports, the IMD had earlier notified about two low-pressure systems. The first, which developed a few days ago, affected several regions of Odisha. Though the IMD had predicted its influence across the interior, coastal, and northern parts of the state, its impact remained mild, and weather conditions have largely stayed clear.
However, rain activity is expected to continue in southern Odisha due to the existing system.
Two More Systems Expected to Form in the Coming Days
Meteorologists have indicated that a second low-pressure system may form around October 26 and a third around October 29. The second system is anticipated to intensify further and could develop between October 26 and 27, possibly leading to a cyclonic circulation and subsequent rainfall across several parts of Odisha.
IMD Yet to Confirm Details on Third System
While predictions suggest the third low-pressure system may form towards the end of the month, the IMD has not yet issued any detailed information regarding this system.
