The winter chill has tightened its grip over Odisha, with night temperatures dipping sharply across several interior districts.
As per the latest bulletin of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Semiliguda in Koraput district was the coldest place in the state, recording 7.1 degree Celsius, followed by G. Udayagiri (7.4), Daringbadi (7.5) and Phulbani (8.5).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded minimum temperatures of 14.1 degree Celsius and 14.6 degree Celsius respectively, both staying below normal.
The IMD said that dry weather prevailed across Odisha, with dense fog occurring at one or two places in Sundargarh and moderate fog in Kalahandi district.
A marked rise of about 5 degree Celsius in minimum temperature was observed at one or two places in North Coastal Odisha, but elsewhere the mercury remained below normal by 4–6 degree Celsius at many places. No significant synoptic system lies over the region, the IMD added.

The weather office has predicted that cold and dry conditions will continue over the state for the next few days. Early morning fog and chilly nights are expected to persist, particularly in interior and hilly districts.
