Valentine’s Week drama: Fed up with boyfriend, angry girl jumps into river; swims back due to freezing cold water

A dramatic incident unfolded over the Valentine’s weekend in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh, where a young woman jumped into the Saryu River after being fed up with her boyfriend. Luckily for her, people spotted her right on time before she was saved from drowning. 

According to police and local reports, the woman became upset with her boyfriend during the Valentine’s week and walked to the banks of the Saryu near the Dohri Ghat–Barahalganj border area. In a moment of distress and frustration, she jumped into the river, apparently intending to end her life.

Fed Up With Boyfriend

However, the chilling cold water swiftly overwhelmed her suicide attempt when she began instinctively trying to swim back toward the shore.

Fortunately, bystanders on the nearby bridge spotted her and raised the alarm after hearing her cries for help.

Saved Right On Time

At that critical moment, local boatmen who were in the river noticed her flailing in the current and rowed toward her without hesitation. They managed to reach her in time and pull her safely to the riverbank, preventing a potential tragedy.

A video of the entire rescue has since gone viral on social media, capturing the tense moments of her struggle in the water and the boatmen’s timely action to save her life. 

The incident has once again highlighted concerns around mental health and impulsive actions during emotionally charged situations.
