A night of terror turned into a viral spectacle in Rajasthan’s Kota district, where a man was seen carrying an eight-foot crocodile on his shoulders after rescue officials reportedly failed to show up despite repeated calls.
The incident took place in Banjari village of Itawa sub-division on Friday night. Panic broke out when the massive reptile weighing nearly 80 kilograms slithered into a house while the family was watching TV. “We were sitting together when suddenly, the crocodile crawled in through the door and went into the back room. We ran out in fear,” recalled Laturlal, a villager.
Locals Step In for a Daring Rescue
With no response from the authorities, the villagers reached out to wildlife rescuer Hayat Khan Tiger, known for his fearless operations in the region. Hayat and his team arrived promptly and carried out what witnesses described as a “film-like rescue.”
They taped the crocodile’s mouth shut, tied its limbs securely, and managed to move it out of the house after an intense hour-long effort. The dramatic moment came when Hayat lifted the reptile onto his shoulders as the crowd erupted in applause.
Released Safely, But Fear Persists
The crocodile was later released into the Chambal River near Geta on Saturday morning. “It was around eight feet long and about 80 kilos, the third rescue from this village in a year,” Hayat said.
Residents say crocodiles from a nearby pond have made life dangerous. “We’re scared to even go near the water. Authorities must act before something tragic happens,” a villager urged.
