What began as a birthday celebration ended in devastating tragedy in the early hours of Saturday, when a high-speed car crash on the old Ahmedabad highway in Udaipur claimed four young lives and left several others injured.

The accident occurred around 3 am near Nela Talab in the Savina area, when two cars collided head-on, police said. According to PTI, four teenagers died on the spot, while six others sustained injuries in the crash. The impact left both vehicles mangled beyond recognition.

Birthday Celebration and Risky Driving

One of the cars involved was carrying six friends who had celebrated a birthday and were returning after attending a ‘Mehfil-e-Milad’ programme. The group had reportedly planned to stop for tea nearby. A chilling video, recorded moments before the crash from inside the car, has since gone viral.

The footage shows the driver holding a cigarette while loud music played inside the vehicle. The speedometer is seen crossing 120 kmph as the driver accelerates and attempts a U-turn, even as another vehicle approaches from the opposite direction. Seconds later, the crash occurs, with the sound of shattering glass captured on camera.

Victims Identified, Others Injured

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Ayan (17), Adil Qureshi (14), Sher Mohammad (19) and Ghulam Khwaja (17), Savina SHO Ajayraj Singh said. Sources said that the occupants pleaded for help for nearly ten minutes after the crash, but by the time assistance arrived, four had succumbed to their injuries.

Gujarat Vehicle Also Affected

The second car, bearing a Gujarat registration, was travelling from Rajgarh in Churu district to Vapi. Four passengers in that vehicle were also injured.

The bodies have been sent to MB Hospital mortuary for post-mortem, and police have seized both vehicles. The tragic incident once again underscores the deadly consequences of reckless driving and high-speed thrills on public roads.
