The low pressure area over coastal areas of North Andhra Pradesh, South Odisha and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal (BoB) now lies over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal. In its latest forecast, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has forecast heavy rainfall in some districts over the next few days.

As per predictions of the MeT Centre, light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at a few places over rest of the districts in the next 24 hours.

The forecast suggests that the twin cities of Cuttack & Bhubaneswar will witness cloudy sky with spells of thundershowers over the next three days. A 'Yellow Warning' issued by the regional IMD centre, mentions of heavy rainfall at few places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore.

During the same period, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at a few places over 16 districts of the state. These districts include Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and Boudh.
