The plummeting mercury in the state coupled with intense cold wave has left people shivering. Many places in Odisha have reported dipping temperatures in the past few days. People were seen opting for lighting fires to keep the chill at bay. The dense fog and bone-chilling cold wave have adversely affected day-to-day life.
“After spells of rain, temperature has further plummeted. We have been experiencing intense cold. We had not experienced such a winter for the past 10-15 years. People don’t leave their homes in the morning. As you can see, we have gathered here and have lit a fire to keep ourselves warm. None of the tea stalls are open at this hour. Most senior citizens have also stopped coming out for morning walk. Everything has come to a halt. We have lit a fire to cope with the intense cold. We had no idea that we would be experiencing such an intense cold wave this year. We also don’t know for how long this cold wave would continue”, Said local in Karanjia.
