The Bhubaneswar Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that a cyclonic circulation developed over Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood today morning. Under its influence, a low pressure area has formed which currently lies over West Bengal and adjoining North Odisha.

Starting from afternoon of Oct 18 till next morning of Oct 19, the MeT Centre issued an 'Orange Warning' for heavy to very heavy rainfall over some places at Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts. For the same period, 'Yellow Warning' has been issued for heavy rainfall and thunderstorm with lightning for several districts.

Yellow warning has been issued for Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur disticts for heavy rainfall. Moreover, Yellow warning over expected thunderstorm with lightning activity has been issued for as many as 18 districts.

On account of the low pressure fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea over North Bay of Bengal, off Odisha coast during the next 48 hours.
