There seems to be no respite from heatwave for the people in several parts of Odisha as the mercury level touched 41 degree mark by 11:30 am on Sunday. It is expected that the maximum temperature will increase further during the peak hours today. Apart from Jharsuguda and Keonjhar, Bhubaneswar residents also bore the brunt of the scorching heatwave with the mercury touching 40.7 degrees by 11:30 am today. Similarly, Balasore recorded a maximum temperature of 40.1, Rourkela (39.6), Chandbali (39.6) and Sambalpur recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2 degrees by 11:30 am today. The temperature crossed 45 degrees Celsius in Odisha on Saturday as the heat wave intensified across the state. As per the India Meteorological Department, Boudh and Baripada recorded a maximum day temperature of 45.2 degrees Celsius each on Saturday, becoming the hottest places in the state. Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted a drop in the maximum temperature in several parts of Odisha in the coming days. As per IMD, the maximum temperature is likely to register a fall by 2 to 3 degrees owing to thunderstorm activities in the next few days.
