The cyclonic storm ‘Hamoon’ intensified into an extremely severe cyclonic storm over the Northwest Bay of Bengal on Tuesday. The system is centered about 290 km east of Paradip (Odisha), 270 km southeast of Digha (West Bengal), 230 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh). IMD scientist Umashankar Das informed that it is likely to weaken and cross Bangladesh's coast between Khepupara and Chittagong around the evening of 25th Oct as a cyclonic storm. Light to moderate rain and thundershower is very likely to occur over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at a few places over the rest of the districts of coastal Odisha. Dry weather is likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha. On the west coast, a very Severe Cyclonic Storm TEJ crossed Yemen's coast close to south of Al Ghaidah between 2:30 and 3:30 am on October 24 as wind speed reached 125-135 mph gusting to 150 mph.
