Keeping in mind the likely impact of Cyclone Gulab, schools and educational institutions in 11 districts of Odisha will remain closed on Monday (September 27), informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena.

According to the SRC, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed the Collectors of Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh and Kalahandi to shut schools and other educational institutions tomorrow.

The collectors have also been directed to take appropriate decision regarding the functioning of schools and educational institutions on Tuesday (September 28) as per the prevailing situation in their respective districts.

“Classes for 9th students begin at 8:30AM every day. It would be advisable for students to not step out of their homes tomorrow if there is heavy rainfall and wind flow tomorrow. Decisions regarding closure of schools would be taken by the Collectors as per the demand of the situation and prevailing condition in their respective districts,” said School and Mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash.
