The Deep Depression or the remnant of cyclonic storm ‘Jawad’ weakened into a depression over northwest Bay of Bengal close to southeast of Puri at 2.30PM on Sunday (December 5). This information was shared by India Meteorological department in its latest bulletin.

According to the weather agency, after weakening, the depression lay centered at over northwest Bay of Bengal close to Odisha coast. It lay centered around 130 km east-northeast of Gopalpur, about 50 km southeast of Puri and 100 km south-southwest of Paradip.

The depression is likely to continue to move north-northeastwards, along Odisha coast towards West Bengal coast and weaken into a well-marked low pressure area during next 12 hours.

Light to moderate rainfall is expected at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places likely over north coastal and adjoining areas of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal.

Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph will prevail over northwest Bay of Bengal and along & off Odisha and West Bengal coasts during the next 12 hours.
