After Cyclone Gulab, a fresh cyclonic circulation is currently brewing in the Bay of Bengal, informed the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per the MeT Centre, the cyclonic circulation which had started taking form between the East Bay of Bengal and Bangladesh-Myanmar area, currently lies over Northeast and adjoining East Central Bay of Bengal.
Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over Northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh coasts during the next 12 hours. Owing to this, parts of Odisha are likely to receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms for three days, i.e. from September 28-30.
As per the weather forecast, heavy rainfall will lash several areas in Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Balasore and Bhadrak during the period. Meanwhile, 'Cyclone Gulab' weakened into a Depression over north Telangana and adjoining south Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha.
As per official reports, around 325 houses suffered extensive damages in the wake of the cyclone, with Pottangi block in Koraput bearing the maximum brunt.
