The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the well-marked low-pressure area over the south Bay of Bengal has become active and is likely to intensify into a depression in the next 12 hours.

Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department has forecasted that various places in Odisha are very likely to experience cloudy weather and light to moderate rainfall due to the low pressure today and tomorrow.
The Meteorological department has issued alerts for 19 districts in the southern, coastal, and interior parts of Odisha.
Apart from these 19 districts, one or two places in districts such as Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj will also experience moderate rainfall.
The cold wave condition, which has been sweeping the state for the last few days, has subsided a little due to the expected rain with increase in temperature = by three to five degrees Celsius.
However, it is predicted that the chilly weather condition will return to Odisha after four days.
Although the low pressure will have no direct impact on Odisha, it will bring rainfall to the state.
Farmers have been advised to be cautious, as the unseasonal rain may affect their paddy and Rabi crops.
