For the first time in 41 years - India holds an Olympic medal, Asian Games medal, and Commonwealth Games Hockey medal at the same time! India have defeated Japan 5-1 in the final to win gold medal in the men's hockey event in the Asian Games on Friday. With this win, the men in blue have also secured a berth in the Olympic Games in Paris next year.Skipper Harmanpreet Singh scored a brace in 32nd and 59th minutes, while Manpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas and Abhishek scored one goal each for India. Japan's lone consolation was scored by Seren Tanaka off an indirect penalty corner.This is the fourth medal for India at the Asian Games hockey men’s event. The Indian team which had to remain content with a bronze medal in the last edition in Jakarta, have now won their fourth Asian Games gold and first since the 2014 edition. The previous two gold medals came in 1966 and 1998, both times in Bangkok.
