The first meeting of the Cultural and Technical Joint Committee of the Puri Srimandir was held on Tuesday, focusing on spiritual, cultural, and religious aspects to enhance the sanctity of the Jagannath Dham.
The Committee emphasized that every development initiative around the Srimandir would reflect the spiritual grandeur and global significance of Lord Jagannath’s abode. All upcoming projects will be developed on land belonging to the Lord, ensuring the preservation of the temple’s divine ethos.
Key discussions were held on the development of Jagannath Ballav Pramod Udyan, the beautification of Shrimarg, and the maintenance of the Pilgrim Centre. Officials informed that ongoing works are expected to be completed by December, while pending portions of the Srimandir Parikrama Project will be finished soon.
The Committee also reviewed the renovation plan for Gundicha Temple, which will either be completed before the end of the year or after the Rath Yatra. Discussions further included the establishment of the Raghunandan Library, construction of Srimandir Model Gurukul for the children of servitors, and installation of air conditioners at the Natamandap.
Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb stated that the management committee and the state government have approved multiple projects under the Srimandir development plan, which aims to strengthen the spiritual and cultural environment of the sacred Jagannath Dham.

“We had a detailed discussion on the renovation of the Gundicha Temple. We have requested the OBCC to take up the work which they can complete by the 2026 Rath Yatra. Besides, discussions on other developmental projects were also held during the meeting,” informed Arabinda Padhee, Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration.
