Odisha: Odia IFS Arun Kumar Sahu Appointed India’s Next Ambassador To Bulgaria

In a matter of pride for the state, the Government of India has appointed IFS Arun Kumar Sahu from Odisha as India’s next ambassador to Bulgaria, a key nation in South-Eastern Europe. Arun Kumar Sahu, presently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry has been appointed as India’s next ambassador to Bulgaria, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) informed. 

“Arun Kumar Sahu Batch of 1996), presently Additional Secretary in the Ministry, has been appointed as the Next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Bulgaria,” the MEA said in a statement.

He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
Sahu has been serving as Additional Secretary (Central Europe) in the Ministry since September 2022. His tenure is marked by notable achievements and expertise in various diplomatic fields. Hailing from Odisha’s Deogarh, the 1996 batch IFS officer had earlier served as Ambassador of India (High Commissioner of India) to Trinidad, Tobago.

During his illustrious career, Sahu has amassed a wealth of experience across various capacities. His vast experience in international diplomacy is expected to contribute significantly to promoting India’s interests in the region.
