Cuttack’s Iconic Barabati Stadium To Be Demolished & Redeveloped Into World-Class Stadium: OCA Secy

In a major move, the Odisha government has decided to give a massive facelift to the iconic Barabati stadium in Cuttack. As per reports, the stadium is likely to be demolished and renovated as part of the proposed development plan.

In a major move, the Odisha government has decided to give a massive facelift to the iconic Barabati stadium in Cuttack. As per reports, the stadium is likely to be demolished and renovated as part of the proposed development plan. It is pertinent to mention here that the Barabati stadium was built in 1952. Later, former Secretary of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) Ashirbad Behera had initiated measures for floodlights, corporate box and increasing the capacity of the stadium. The present OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera informed that a vision document was prepared and submitted to the state government in this regard. The foundation stone for the development plan will be laid on February 27 and work will start soon. Earlier On Wednesday, the 5T chairman visited Barabati stadium and held discussions with Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) President Pranab Prakash Das and other officials. As per the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the transformation of Barabati cricket stadium with 60,000 seating capacity will be taken up. Apart from this, the Barabati Stadium area will be developed into a world-class sports campus. It will boast facilities for cricketers and other sports disciplines. As per the proposed plans, the project will also cover other facilities for spectators as per international standards including parking, galleries, food courts and washrooms. The campus will also have facilities for other sports disciplines.
