Specially-abled World Chess Champion Malika Handa on Sunday (Jan 2) slammed Punjab government in a video alleging apathy and negligence. Punjab’s Sports Minister Pargat Singh allegedly informed her recently that the state cannot give her cash reward or a job as the government doesn’t have any such policy for a deaf and mute person.

Malika in the video stated she was feeling ‘hurt’ due to the apathy of the state government. Malika further informed that she had met Pargat Singh on December 31st regarding the same when she was informed that she was ineligible to avail the perks due to lack of a policy for deaf sports.

Urging for a government job, the Chess Champion alleged that she is being neglected and denied her rights even after bringing laurels to the state and the country. As per reports, Malika is a 7-time national chess champion in the deaf category and has won a gold and two silver medals at the World Deaf Chess Championships among many others.
