The declaration of UPSC civil services result turned out to be a special one for former Andhra police Constable Uday Krishna Reddy who secured 780th rank All India. After years of alleged humiliation and mockery, the former cop fulfilled his dream and cracked the UPSC. He had joined the Andhra Pradesh Police Department in 2013 when he was just 19 years old. As he was the youngest in the batch, his seniors reportedly used to held grudge against him for preparing for competitive examinations. Reddy was allegedly humiliated in front of 60 policemen for coming late to the police drill. He even faced a tough time with his seniors who used to mock him for his aspirations. The former cop faced a lot of trouble as allegedly, seniors intentionally assigned him sentry duty because of which he had to miss one exam in Rajahmundry. He was told to accept that he is just a constable. He said his senior told him not to live his dreams and to accept the reality that he was a constable. Even after he told that he doesn’t want to continue the service, he was sent a deserted notice. Note that the deserted notice is sent to a soldier who flees while on duty. Despite these obstacles, Reddy was able to qualify the prelims in 2019 to be eligible for mains. At the time of his counseling, he went to his unit officer and described the incident. The unit officer was the one who helped him and took care of his no-objection certificate. With an All India rank of 780, Reddy is now eligible to be assigned to the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). But the former cop is not planning to settle for the IRS and aims to continue his studies until he qualifies for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
