The 125-year-old St Lukes Church in Kashmir is going to be restored to its original glory and will start functioning from Christmas. The structure of the church is a reflection of old colonial-era architecture with fine stone and brick masonry. The Khatamband and Devar stones of Kashmir are being used in the renovation of Kashmir’s oldest church. The Church was closed for more than three decades in wake of growing violence in the 1990s in Kashmir. The J&K Tourism Department is renovating and restoring the church under the Smart City Project.
