Is it so difficult to not stay hooked to mobile phones? A video game in mobile phone has claimed the life of a Class 9 student in Odisha. On Thursday (September 30), a 14-year-old boy died allegedly by suicide after his mother rebuked him and snatched the phone over his addiction to a video game.

The shocking incident has been reported from Keonjhar district. Deceased Soumya Ranjan Jena was a student of Salapada Adarsha Vidyalaya. And ever since online education has started, Soumya has been engrossed in playing a videogame in the cell phone.

As per reports, after returning from the school, the boy started playing Free Fire game on mobile phone. But the situation yesterday was different. As his exams were scheduled to be held the next day (Friday), his mother reprimanded and stopped him from playing the game.

Upset over this, the boy then outrageously went to the roof of his house and allegedly hung himself with a towel.

The boy was hastened to the hospital but the doctors pronounced him brought dead. The sight then at the hospital was gut-wrenching. Soumya's mother was inconsolable as she knows she can never see her son again.

"I just told him that you have exams, don't play games and concentrate on the exams. I snatched the phone from him and called his teacher to talk to him. Meanwhile, he (Soumya) went to the terrace. I had never expected this would happen. Free Fire game took the life of my child," said the mother.
