In another instance of alleged medical negligence, a woman reportedly delivered a baby in an auto-rickshaw in Odisha’s Ganjam district. As per reports, the pregnant woman developed labour pain on Wednesday (November 17) night following which her family members took her to Beguniapada Primary Health Centre in an auto rickshaw.

They alleged that when they reached the PHC, there was no staff to attend her. Later when they called the in-charge of the Health Centre seeking keys for the room where the woman could be shifted for treatment, allegedly, nobody listened. The family members of the woman alleged that despite calling the doctor several times and knocked on his doors, the Ayush doctor did not respond.

The woman wreathing in pain was helped by a nurse in baby birth. She delivered the baby inside the auto rickshaw, said family members of the woman. However, the Ayush doctor has refuted the allegations. He said that keys were handed over to family members as soon as they knocked on the door and that there was no negligence on part of the health centre.
