The goat ate stocks of rice grain and vegetables from the house of one Ranjit Nayak. Fed up with this, Nayak informed the owner of the goat and asked him not to set it free. Failing to get a desired response, Nayak took the goat to the police station.
Nayak did not want to invite trouble for himself again as he was once fined Rs 8,000 for killing a goat.
