In yet another instance of medical negligence, an elderly patient was allegedly administered a wrong injection at Basudevpur community health centre in Bhadrak. The matter came to light after tension erupted at the hospital over alleged recklessness of the on-duty nurse. 84-year-old Nagendra Prasad Mohanty was brought to the hospital for administration of injection after due consultation of doctor.
However, Nagendra’s son Subasish alleged that the nurse administered only distilled water to his father instead of the prescribed injection. On the allegation of the wrong injection, the medical officer said he hasn’t received any such allegation as yet and assured once complaint is filed he would inform higher authorities for an inquiry.
