The cry for justice for murdered lady teacher Mamita Meher intensified across Odisha. Opposition BJP took out a march in Bhubaneswar against CM Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Bhawanipatna and burnt his effigy in protest.

Hundreds workers of the saffron party took out a protest from Raj Mahal square towards Sishu Bhawan waving black flags and shouting slogans against the Chief Minister. The agitating members also burnt effigies of Patnaik and Minister of State (Home), Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra and Law Minister Pratap Jena.

Several BJP workers had a scuffle with the police personnel during their march following which they were detained. Some members were also taken into custody for trying to breach airport security while waving black flags.

On the other hand, activists of BJP and Congress jointly staged demonstration at Kalramunda in Kalahandi against CM’s visit. CM Patnaik visited Kalahandi to participate in a smart health card distribution program in Bhawanipatna.
