Lady teacher Mamita Meher’s disappearance and subsequent escape of detained school management committee member from police custody has kicked up a storm.

Whereabouts of Mamita Meher, who is a teacher at Sunshine English Medium School in Mahaling under Sindhekela Police limits of Kalahandi district is still unknown after 11 days.

However, more and more sensational details are emerging. On Monday (Oct 18), the victim's father alleged that his daughter was sexually abused and murdered for threatening to expose an illegal sex racket in the school.

He stated that the racket was being operated by Govinda Sahu, who is the president of the school's management committee and a good friend of Minister of State (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra.

This comes after Govinda Sahu escaped from Titlagarh Police barrack on Sunday night (Oct 17) after being detained by the police for interrogation regarding the case. With Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra’s link being alleged in the case, political parties have demanded the minister’s resignation.

Meanwhile, Minister Dibya Shakar Mishra in a written statement said that law will take its own course and that he has full faith in the system. Mishra also emphasized that anyone found guilty shall be punished.
