Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has sought a study on students from Left-Wing Extremism-affected areas appearing for national level examinations like NEET, IIT JEE. The CM voiced this suggestion at a high-level meeting on Left-Wing Extremism chaired by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The meeting was convened with representatives of 10 Left-Wing Extremism-hit states including Odisha, Telengana, Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.
In the meeting, Patnaik emphasised on education and asked the Home Ministry to do a study on how many children from the LWE affected areas across the country are getting into national level exams like NEET, IIT JEE etc.
He further said that if our systems continue to bypass these areas, it is not going to help the cause of people of LWE affected areas. Apart from this, Patnaik demanded four-laning of road NH 326 from Jeypore to Motu via Malkangiri up to Bhadrachalam.
He also asked to strengthen the railway networks in the LWE-affected districts in Odisha which can have huge impact on economic growth of these areas. Patnaik also urged the Union Home Ministry to boost mobile connectivity and extend banking facilities to foster development.
