Hundreds of pass-out MBBS graduates launched a protest at lower PMG Square in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday (Dec 8), alleging lack of government jobs for them in the state. The doctors raised slogans and alleged government apathy towards the rising trend of unemployment of doctors in Odisha.

The doctors reportedly alleged that despite attaining degrees from government-run colleges, they fail to secure a government job due to a dearth of the same for the general category.

The agitating doctors cited that after 2014, the government has not sanctioned adequate number of posts for eligible candidates in the general category while vacancies for the same are observed in the reserved category. However, no response in this regard could be obtained from the government.
