In 2020 March, the covid-19 pandemic forced thousands of Indian companies to adopt remote work or work from home model.
Thereafter, the work from home model became the new normal in the corporate world.
However, with the pandemic situation improving, many companies including IT firms are reportedly planning to call back employees to the offices.
However, the Workforce and Increment Trends survey 2021 conducted by Deloitte revealed that only 40 percent organisations have finalised their return to work strategy. This means that 60% of companies surveyed are yet to devise a return policy. But at the same time 90 percent organisations now looking at a hybrid work arrangement, which is a combination of work from home and office.
Meanwhile, the survey also stated that companies do not prefer giving employees the choice on time and duration of work from home. In fact, approval from line managers or setting limits on the number of days, are some of the alternatives preferred by companies.
As per the Deloitte Survey, just 1 percent of the organisations are likely to use a pure work-from-home model. But at the same time, 88% companies are not planning to allow their employees to work from any location on a permanent basis, the survey reported.
