This video purportedly showing a security guard administering injection to a patient has gone viral on social media platforms.
In the video, the security guard can be seen administering an injection to a patient in pain despite the presence of doctors, paramedic staff at the government hospital. The incident reportedly occurred at the Angul District Headquarters hospital and has invited sharp criticism.
The incident has also raised serious questions on the implementation of Odisha government's guidelines at the hospital. However, speaking on the matter, ADMO Manas Ranjan Biswal said that he would be able to comment on the incident only after a thorough investigation into the matter.
Earlier, the government of Odisha had issued a circular warning all major State-run healthcare facilities to avoid engaging any non-healthcare personnel in assisting doctors or paramedics during treatment of patients.
