Law students of colleges under the Utkal University staged demonstration in front of the university gate in Bhubaneswar on Monday protesting the schedule of exams.

The students launched their protest against the decision of university authorities to conduct examinations of four semesters in 6 months. Students from University Law College, Capital Law College, MS Law College and The Law College in Cuttack staged demonstration in this regard. According to the students, the decision of the University is in violation of the regulations of the Bar Council. Moreover, the students have reportedly submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor demanding conduct of 7th, 8th, 9th & 10th semester exams in online mode.

The students have said that if a notification in this regard is not released by the University Authorities, they will stage protest before the office of Chief Minister and then take the matter to the High Court.

Meanwhile, the Controller of examination of Utkal University, Sharat Kumar Majhi said that a decision regarding the demands of students will be taken during a meeting of the exam committee which will be held on August 25. The decision will be taken in the interest of students, he added.
