This is a unique protest staged by the residents of Sambalpur on Thursday (September 9). These are the locals who are expected to be displaced by the Samaleswari Temple Area Management and Local Economy Initiatives (SAMALEI) scheme of the Odisha government.
They launched this Jal Satyagraha seeking clarification on their rehabilitation. The displaced people including women staged this Jal Satyagraha at Balibandha Ghat in the Mahanadi River that flows by the western Odisha city of Sambalpur.
The protesters have alleged that the administration has not provided them the details of their displacement and their rehabilitation as part of the SAMALEI scheme till date. The protestors also demanded the administration to give clarification on the compensation amount to be paid.
