In a shocking incident, two persons from Saudu village in Balasore district were critically injured after miscreants allegedly opened fire at them during a theft bid at a Jeweler’s house late on Tuesday night (June 1). At around 2 AM, a group of 10 armed miscreants barged into the house of jeweler Sanatan Kamini.

The miscreants then terrorized and tied up the family members at gunpoint and looted valuables worth over Rs 10 lakh. After hearing the family’s cries for help, some villagers reached the spot and attempted to stop the miscreants from fleeing with the valuables.

In a bid to escape from the spot, the miscreants allegedly opened 10 rounds of fire, critically injuring two people. The injured Rabindra Barik and his son were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after their condition deteriorated. Upon receiving information, Police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
