It’s fifth gold medal for India at the Paralympics and second in Badminton. An outstanding performance against Hong Kong's Chu Man Kai on Sunday ensured that a deserving Krishna Nagar gets nothing less than gold at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Krishna Nagar beat Chu Man Kai in three hard-fought games in the final of the Men's badminton singles SH6 class at Tokyo. The stupendous performance of the para-shuttler secured India’s second gold medal in the badminton courts and fifth overall. 22-year-old Krishna Nagar from Jaipur was second seeded and is the world No. 2 in his class.

Krishna Nagar played a superb aggressive game and beat Chu in three sets 21-17, 16-21 and 21-17, to win the match in 43 minutes. Nagar had taken up badminton in 2014 and displayed his best performance at the Tokyo Paralympic Games in the finals.

After Pramod Bhagat won gold in SL3 on Saturday, this win marked India's fourth medal in badminton at Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Earlier, Manoj Sarkar had won bronze in the same class. Before Nagar’s victory, Suhas Yathiraj also added a silver to the badminton’s medal tally.

India's overall tally in Paralympics this year went up to 19 - 5 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze medals.
